    I remember being 14 & I certainly wasn’t a child. A lot of family members are this same age now & all of them are mature enough not to think like or be treated as a child. No circumstances condone the murder of your newborn baby. I went to school with a girl who gave birth at 14. Her son is an 18 year old man now, happy & healthy. His mother turned out to be a fantastic parent despite her family disowning her at the start & other problems she had to overcome.

I question that myself, whether she was raped, etc, incest, however, the blatent pregnancy test lies, the fact that she must have looked pregnant, there had to be dialogue of some type regarding all of this before the end. Although teenagers brains are not fully developed, normally a child knows right from wrong by the age of 10 at the latest. That actually is on the low side since children now develop differently, are more educated, and have a better understanding than children from 70 years ago. She committed too many deliberate acts including taking scissors to pry the baby out, the fact that she knew she was in labor and bit down on a towel. I think she was fully cognizant of what she was doing. Did she think of the consequences, probably not, but there are consequences . Even if raped, either you tell or keep the kid, you dont kill a normal healthy baby as its coming out of your uterus. Its too deliberate of an act. All of that together and it’s no wonder that a tragedy occurred. If anything her parents are neglectful for not noticing the pregnancy and doing something about it. A doctors visit (not a private urine test in the bathroom) should have been in order. Because of that neglect a baby is dead and a child’s life is ruined, possibly forever.

happening to our compassion and understanding? Anyone that’s ever been around
14 year olds knows that their judgment and decision making isn’t the same as an
adult. Add the stress and fear of a hidden pregnancy……….there was bound
to be a tragic result. Parents all over need to pay attention and realize
you’re the parent, not their friend. Her mother bares a lot of responsibility in
this. If she would have a parent and taken this child to the doctor when suspicion

It’s so easy for everyone to Judge, even without knowing facts or circumstances!! Some people are so cruel in their judgement. We already have a punitive justice and penal system, we don’t need more judgement from uninformed people. Our justice system punishes enough without consideration of rehabilitation. Its sad to think of what this girl did. I do not feel any pitty for her at all. When I was her age I was doing things I wasn’t suppose to be doing but eventhough I was so young I wasn’t blind to the fact that pregnancy is a possibility. I completely agree. She should be charged as an adult because: 1. she understood that she was pregnant, 2. she planned to do something with the child since she tried to cover up the pregnancy 3. She took clear steps to hide the mess and body, showing a fear of getting caught, which means she knew it was wrong then 4. she lied to the hospital staff. All of this shows a plan, cold-blooded murder, intent, and knowledge. Sorry, under our statutes that is murder and punishable by prison when you are 14. A 14 year old kid wont have the same emotional stability as of an adult ..it is evident from the sources that she committed it out of extreme panic that she faced during the described scenario.. Before making furious comments and using profane language, u should once think what would it be if u were in her shoes.The girl might have suffered serious repercussions like parental pressure , societal pressure , isolation ,insults during her gestation and much more and we should assume the fact that she should’ve reached a serious psychic condition beyond control .. so when the distortion of her mental stability happened ,she did a brutal and equally agonizing deed that no human can tolerate .. but this case should never be treated as a first degree murder case in my opinion considering her age and lack of distinct motive.. Govt should make her undergo series of psychological tests to reveal her mental condition during gestation and post gestation period.. and then she should be institutionalized without giving jail sentence but a proper counselling..
