A small Renault Clio hatchback car was packed full with 19 young students by a South African nursery school teacher. The car driven by Melanie Minnie was packed full with students who were between ages 4-6 were on a trip to a shopping mall burger spot when their car was stopped by law enforcement.
Police officers were shocked to discover the teacher had 3 children on the front seat, 10 in the back seat, and six more students in the trunk of the hatchback.
Ms Minnie was quoted in South Africa’s Afrikaans language Beeld newspaper “this is the first time we went on an outing – and the last time”. Ms. Minnie was fined $175 for her little excursion. Witnesses said the children looked to be content with their situation despite being crammed into the vehicle.
