Yvonne Small became the 10th victim of the dangerous new knockout craze to hit New York. Small, a 76-year-old woman was knocked to the ground after being punched by her assailant on Alabama Ave. and Wortman Ave. in East New York about 11:35 a.m.
Yvonne Small was walking through Brooklyn at about 11.30am when an unidentified person punched her in the back of the head.
Her attacker struck shortly after members of the Rev Al Sharpton’s group held a rally nearby to try to bring an end to the street violence.
Yvonne Small told News 4’s Matt Sczesny she was hit as she moved through a large crowd on the sidewalk.
“I dropped immediately to the ground and screaming and crying and everybody just scattered, “she said.
Surveillance footage of the attack has been released, as police try to track Ms Small’s assailant, according to the Gothamist.
She was treated at Brookdale University Hospital and discharged. Her attacker was being sought by police.
