Seattle Seahawk fans had more to cheer about than just a victory on Sunday afternoon, as the Seahawks continued their march towards the playoffs, home field advantage throughout the playoffs, and possibly a Super Bowl run by shutting out the New York Giants at Metlife Stadium in New York City.
Jet Chevrolet a small car dealership South of Seattle held a drawing for customers visiting the dealership whether they were buying a vehicle or not. The deal worked like this: the dealership picked 12 lucky names from drawing and agreed to pay each lucky winner $35,000 if the Seahawks held the Giants scoreless.
Dealership owner Jim Johnson said, “This is crazy. We never expected that we’d actually be giving away the money.”
The Seahawks have one of the NFL’s top defenses, but nobody could’ve expected this kind of lackluster performance from former Super Bowl champ Eli Manning and the Giants offense at their home stadium. The Seahawks, however, did just that holding the Giants scoreless through four quarters of play and forcing Jet Chevrolet to make good on their offer.
Things didn’t turn out all bad for dealership, because before making this offer the took out an insurance policy on the promotion and only have to pay $7,000, not to mention the tons of publicity they’ll receive.
