Pikas Resort To Eating Own Poop To Adjust Climate Change

A relative of the rabbit known as the Pika has been struggling to adjust to a change in its habitat due to reported climate change. Rising global temperatures have taken their toll on the Pika’s normal resources, and as a result some of them have been surviving off of unorthodox means. Drastic times call for drastic measures, as they say,

Pikas Resort To Eating Own Poop To Adjust Climate Change

Pikas Resort To Eating PoopScientists have observed that in the wild the Pikas who have begun to eat some of their poop have better odds of survival. This adjustment to their diet has boosted their nutrients in absence of abundant sources of food. Since the animals do not fully digest the nutrients from their food the first time they ingest the food, there are still more valuable nutrients available in the fecal matter.

Some may cringe at the thought of eating their own poop for survival, but when facing death  as the only other option you may change your mind.

Pikas live in the wild in mountainous areas of Asia, North America, and Europe. They are typically well adjusted to cooler weather, like Chinchillas, but are making adaptations to survive as the planet slowly heats up.

Whether you attribute global climate change to human activities or natural cycles, we all must learn to cope one way or another. The rising temperatures will gradually have more of an effect on humans too if heating trends continue into later years. Eventually our food supplies will become harder to grow and feeding our inflated population will become more of a task for farmers to meet demands. We may not plan to eat our own poop when times get tough, but we all should be looking for something to help us survive as times change for humanity too.

I’ve tried posting before and you censored me rather than admit you are wrong. Pikas have NOT just started eating heir poop to cope with climae change, a your first sentence states. “Scientists have observed that in the wild the Pikas who have begun to eat some of their poop have better odds of survival.”
Pikas, rabbits and hares ALWAYS eaten some of their own poop, called caecal pellets. It is, and always has been, how they get some key nutrients. What is new here is that this low-elevation population of pikas in Oregon lives off moss, which is possible because they canb concentrate the nutrients in the caecal pellets.
Why are you resisting fixing an erroneous story? Doesn’t say much for your web site’s credibility.
