Who are the newlywed Craigslist killers? This question has been on everyone’s mind ever since the report came out of the horrific crime the duo committed.
A newlywed couple who police say lured their victim through a Craigslist posting then stabbed him to death and dumped his body in an alley will face preliminary hearings Friday.
The couple married in North Carolina then moved to Pennsylvania three weeks before the crime took place.
The young couple consisting of 22-year-old Elytte Barbour and his 18-year-old wife, Miranda, of Selinsgrove have separate hearings scheduled in central Pennsylvania in the city of Sunbury.
They’re being held without bail on criminal homicide charges for the Nov. 11 death of 42-year old Troy LaFerrara.
The couple has admitted to the crime, telling police that Miranda Barbour stabbed LaFerrara in the front seat of the car while her husband held a cord around his neck to restrain him. Authorities say that Miranda Barbour told investigators that she met the victim after he responded to her Craigslist posting offering companionship for money and that they traveled in her car from Selinsgrove to Sunbury.
Elytte Barbour told the Daily Item of Sunbury that Barbour regularly hired herself out as a “companion” to men she met on various websites. He supported the venture saying that it did not involve sexual contact.
Elytte Barbour told police he was hiding under a blanket in the backseat when his wife picked up LaFerrara and drove to Sunbury, where they parked, authorities said per thegardenisland.com. When she gave her husband the prearranged signal, the husband came out from hiding and pulled a cable cord around LaFerrara’s neck while his wife stabbed him according to authorities. The man was stabbed 20 times.
LaFerrara’s body was eventually found Nov. 12 in an alley in Sunbury.
The couple told officers that they had planned to kill before, only their plan never worked out.
