Michael Bay Panic Attack During On State Interview Forces Him To Leave Stage

The “Transformers” director, Michael Bay was Samsung’s big guest speaker at the company’s CES press conference when he suffered from an apparent panic attack. Following an issue with a teleprompter, Bay found himself at a loss for words and simply walked off the stage after trying to gain his thoughts.

As Bay walked off the stage he said sorry to the host of the interview and those in attendance.

“Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES,” Bay wrote in a follow-up blog post that stopped short of apologizing.

“I was about to speak for Samsung for this awesome Curved 105-inch UHD TV. I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP’s intro line and then the teleprompter got lost,” he said.

“The the prompter went up and down – then I walked off. I guess live shows aren’t my thing,” he wrote.

According to the May Clinic,

A panic attack is a sudden episode of intense fear that triggers severe physical reactions when there is no real danger or apparent cause. Panic attacks can be very frightening. When panic attacks occur, you might think you’re losing control, having a heart attack or even dying.

Many people have just one or two panic attacks in their lifetimes, and the problem goes away, perhaps when a stressful situation ends. But if you’ve had recurrent, unexpected panic attacks and spent long periods in constant fear of another attack, you may have a condition called panic disorder.

Panic attacks were once dismissed as nerves or stress, but they’re now recognized as a real medical condition. Although panic attacks can significantly affect your quality of life, treatment can be very effective.
