The new year is here, and that means time to start going after those New Year’s resolutions.  For some, like me, this may mean diet and exercise are on that list.  Just how do you go about finding the right diet?  The latest craze appears to be Chef Rocco DiSpirito’s “The Pound A Day Diet.”  But does it work?

Chef Rocco DiSpirito was a self-proclaimed “chubby chef with a crooked spine and flat feet.”  While Rocco DiSpirito once weighed in at 226 pounds, he slimmed down to a mere 185 pounds.  How did he accomplish this feat?  Firstly, he ditched his reportedly unhealthy habits of overeating and drinking too much alcohol.

Chef Rocco DiSpirito’s Pound A Day Diet developeded after an alarming trip to the doctor’s office.  His doctor informed him that he would need to take several medications for his blood pressure and cholesterol.  “Out of desperation, I was like, ‘What else can I do?’ ‘Well, you can try diet or exercise, but here you go, no one ever does that,’” Rocco DiSpirito reports of his doctor’s visit.

Rocco DiSpirito’s Pound A Day Diet is based on a two phase weight loss plan using the Mediterranean Diet.

During phase one of the Pound A Day Diet, dieters are restricted to 850 calories during the weekdays, and 1,200 calories on weekends.  Phase one of the Pound A Day Diet is designed to correct calorie and carbohydrate intake and speed up metabolism.  Carbs that are allowed during phase one consist of whole wheats and grains.  Phase one of the Pound A Day Diet is designed to last for 28 days.

After phase one of the Pound A Day Diet, dieters should be at their target weight.  During phase two of the Pound A Day Diet, Rocco DiSpirito explains that portion sizes are rebalanced, less meat is consumed, and more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains are added.  Phase two of the Pound A Day Diet is designed to keep the weight off.

While Rocco DiSpirito’s Pound A Day Diet may appear to be a lifelong diet alteration, it may also be successful.  After all, “I am surrounded by the most delicious food available on the planet every day of my life. And if I can do it, anyone can do it,” states Rocco DiSpirito.

I was taking a fairly high-dose of prednisone, which caused me to gain weight and to go from 150 to 172 pounds over a period of about a year and a half.

I wanted a diet that wouldn’t change my “menu”. I found the EIGHT INCH PLATE diet, which basically says: “fill an 8″ plate – ONCE – and eat that” (it’s not quite that simple: example – instead of a 1-pound steak, I eat a 1/2-3/4 pound one – and instead of a full-sized baked potato FULL of sour cream and butter – I have a small one with a little sour cream and a little butter).

    It’s working for me. Dec 2013 I weighted 172. Jan 2014 I weigh 161.

    It’s the ol’ “moderation” method.

    regards,
    TOMOTH

Really it’s just common sense and we all know it deep down, but sometimes it’s difficult to listen to common sense! Eating more vegetables & grains is a step forward for most of us. I’ve been (trying) to stick with a more Mediterranean style diet since early December and must admit I do feel better for it. You can get a free report on it here: http://www.thefreemedreport.com
