Nutella will finally have some competition as the new Hershey’s Spreads hit shelves.
As Hershey’s introduces their new line of product with flavors such as chocolate and hazelnut , a plain chocolate, and an almond and chocolate spread, the Italian hazelnut chocolate spread looks very similar to Nutella’s flavor. However, the flavors aren’t exactly the same, there are some differences.
Hershey’s Spreads have hit stores nationwide, they come in 13oz jars that retail for $3.79. Hershey’s has always had a legacy of creating delicious chocolate for everyone to enjoy dating back to 1894. From the delicious Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar, to Hershey’s Syrup, and Hershey’s Cocoa.
The company stated “Hershey’s Spreads will continue this legacy with the introduction of chocolate spreads that can turn any food into a unique chocolate snacking experience. The Spreads deliver genuine Hershey’s chocolate flavor to any food, anytime, anywhere.”
We don’t know if Hershey’s new spread will compete well with Nutella yet. There are other companies who have tried to introduce a chocolate spread before. J.M. Smucker Co. launched their version in 2012 yet consumers continued shopping for Nutella.
They still feel optimistic that their new product will compete with Nutella due to the Hershey’s name. After all, they are the largest chocolate manufacturer in North America.
The company stated “Hershey’s Spreads will make everything delicious through seemingly endless pairing possibilities. Whether pairing with traditional selections such as graham crackers, strawberries or bananas, or more adventurous pairings like celery, pineapple or pickles, Hershey’s Spreads is the ultimate snack enhancer.”
We will see if they can compete with Nutella. Hershey’s Spreads are in stores now, so why don’t you be the judge. Everyone has their favorite chocolate and this new product just might be right up your alley.
