Seattle Riots 2014 After Winning Super Bowl
Seahawks fans flooded the streets after the Seahawks beat the Broncos 43 to 8 in the 2014 Super Bowl. At least one bonfire had been started near the University of Washington campus.
Fans gathered in Pioneer Square chanting as drivers blew their horns at passersby. Nearly a half an hour after the game ended, hundreds of fans had flocked to CenturyLink Field where Seattle Police were watching in riot gear.
Some of the biggest parties had erupted in the University District, Pioneer Square, and Capitol Hill, all of which are filled with celebrating fans.
“What we’re seeing mostly right now is people who are celebrating the Seahawks victory. People are just ecstatic about the win, and our officers are out there to make sure that everyone is able to celebrate safely. There have been large crowds who have taken over intersections, but when we need to, we are able to move the crowds back and open up the intersections,” states police spokesman Mark Jamieson.
