The first official teaser trailer for Transformers 4, Transformers: Age of Extinction, debuted during the Super Bowl this year, finally giving fans a first look at the highly anticipated sequel to 2011’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Up until now there were only bits and pieces available at a time such as set photos and un-edited raw footage, but now much of the speculation is over and people have a much better idea of what the film will feature. Arguably the biggest reveal from the teaser, which times in at about 40 seconds long, was the confirmation that Dinobots will in fact be in the film.
The trailers high point features Optimus Prime riding Grimlock, a popular Dinobot from the Transformers universe. Aside from glimpses of the movies re-booted cast, the trailer focused heavily on action sequences that mirror those featured in the previous three films. This makes sense, seeing as director Michael Bay did return to direct the fourth installment. Fans can expect more action and a serious tone in Transformers 4, as Bay confirmed recently.
“This is a much more cinematic one. I focused on keeping this one slick. There won’t be any goofiness in this one,” Bay said.
“Marky Mark in the next
#transformers movie…YAS,” one fan Tweeted.
She is of course referring to the films new leading man, Mark Wahlberg, who also worked with Bay recently on the film Pain and Gain. Wahlberg’s acting chops may help to bolster critical acclaim for the next installment of the franchise, which has been panned by most critics thus far. However, that hasn’t stopped the films from bringing in big dollars at the box office. Dark of the Moon managed to become the 6th highest grossing film of all time and the franchise has combined to bring in more than $2 billion at the global box office.
