Jared Lorenzen, also known as “J-Load,” “The Hefty Lefty,”and “The Pillsbury Throwboy,” still has a lot game left as the ex-NFL QB is making a comeback.
Lorenzen, who played for the New York Giants over seven years ago, is back in the spotlight after the 320-pound quarterback made his indoor football debut for the Northern Kentucky River Monsters. Jared Lorenzen had a successful first game as he completed 23 of 37 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns. The River Monsters had a 36-20 victory over the Bluegrass Warhorses.
While critics may think it is an easy task to sack a man of Lorenzen’s size, the Super Bowl champion still has his amazing ability to outmaneuver defenders in the pocket. After being cut by the Texas Colts in 2008, Lorenzen served as general manager for the River Monsters. The former QB then dawned his leader hat as he resigned from the position in order to play quarterback.
River Monsters coach Brian Schmidt wrote on the team’s website:
“I field several times a day the question is Jared coming back? Today is a day that I can definitely say yes, and a day River Monster Fans can be excited for. Having a QB the caliber of Jared improves not only the River Monsters, but league as a whole.”
