Rachel Frederickson, who won season 15 of The Biggest Loser, gets criticized by fans for “losing too much weight.” The 5’4″ contestant went from 260 pounds to 105 over the course of the show.
Frederickson’s celebration for winning the grand prize on The Biggest Loser was short lived after fans of the show began to criticize the 24-year-old for looking too thin on the season finale. However, the now size 2 reality star is not deterred by the negative comments as she told People Magazine:
“I just love myself and I am embracing it.”
Meanwhile, NBC, the producers and the trainers on the show have maintained a neutral stance on the issue. Trainer and star on the show Jillian Michaels wrote on her Twitter:
“Bob and I want to take a moment to congratulate all of the BL contestants on their hard work. We’re not comfortable commenting on Rachel’s journey because we weren’t her trainers and weren’t given an opportunity to work with her at any point. Any questions about the contestants on the Biggest Loser should be directed to the show’s producers.”
Along similar lines, NBC and the production company Shine America released similar statements maintaining neutrality. However, sources said that there were concerns that viewers would have a negative reaction to Rachel Frederickson after such a dramatic weight loss during her time off the ranch. Despite the concerns, producers decided to let Frederickson appear on the finale and hoped that her slimmer appearance would go unnoticed.
According to The Biggest Loser winner, she lost her weight off camera by maintaining a healthy diet and exercising regularly.
