Jay Leno Retires Ushering in New Late Night Era on NBC
As it rains in Burbank, Jay Leno wraps up the 22 year legacy on national TV. Tonight is the last night that Jay Leno will host “The Tonight Show” He will be packing up and heading out but not before hosting the biggest show ever. Jay opens the show by saying “It is just like graduating from high school.” He does a 22 year recap of the Good Old Days , burning Justin Bieber, and admitting he does get along with David Letterman. He said it is ending the way it started asking Hugh Grant “What the Hell where you thinking?” . Then he introducted Billy Crystal as his first and last guest. Billy comes in repainting the place saying he admires Jay’s 160,000 jokes and begins to highlight some of his favorite jokes that captured Jay’s perception on life. Then hugging Jay and relaxing, Billy starts by plugging his book, talking about Apache scars, Jay’s phone number when he was living in Boston in 1974, and old time memories. Surprises start with Jack Black skipping, Kim Kardashian not taking jokes, NBA superstar Chris Paul cheering for the Clippers, Sheryl Crow wanting Jay, Jim Parsons checking the ‘chin theory’ , Carol Bernet , Oprah also joins in on the singing and they all send Jay walking in to the sunset. Next comes Garth Brooks telling the World Jay was one of his most special friend in entertainment. “The Dance” more hugs given after he plays his classic country. At the end of the show Jay gets emotional and breaks down into tears talking about the fans and staff. Then Garth Brooks closes with in singing “I’ve got friends in low places” as Jay signs off with one last message “I am coming home honey“
After Jimmy Fallon says Jay is performing in Florida to go see him out there. As he bring ” The Tonight Show” back to New York City, with Will Smith and U2 in the opening show on Feb. 17th . As we wait to find out what happens to Jay Leno. Does he go to a cable late night show? will he start a car show?What’s next for Jay?
