The fifth ring in Sochi Olympics was nowhere to be seen as the opening ceremony gets off to a rocky start.
The fifth ring in the Sochi Olympics was replaced by a small sun. Sochi, which has been at the epicenter of problems when it comes to preperations for the Olympics, has made yet another blunder by not including the fifth ring in the opening ceremonies. The Olympic preparations for the games have been dismal as reports of poor living conditions and overly intensive security measures have surfaced.
While an official report of what occured has not been made by Olympic officials, it is believed the error was due to a lighting malfunction. Although there are those who speculate the lack of a fifth ring was done purposefully, spectators agree it was an error done by the Olympic coordinators.
The rest of the Sochi Olympic opening ceremonies went on flawlessly as Maria Sharapova lit up the final Olympic flame marking the official start of the Winter Olympics.
The Winter Olympics take place on February 7 – February 23 in Sochi, Russia.
