Why Flappy Bird is Deleted From App Stores – Creator Dong Nguyen Deletes Hit Game

It was announced that Flappy Bird, a runaway hit in mobile gaming, will be deleted by creator Dong Nguyen. Keeping true to his word, Nguyen removed the game from all major app stores today.

Vietnamese mobile game developer Dong Nguyen announced on his personal Twitter account that the overwhelmingly popular game Flappy Bird would not be available anymore. Tweeting to his nearly 100,000 followers, the game maker wrote:

While some speculated that his may have been a PR stunt to drive downloads of the already popular game even further, Nguyen removed the game from both Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store today. When asked why he was removing what is the most popular game out on the mobile market, Nguyen told reporters:

“It’s something I never wanted. Please give me peace.”

The game is still available for download for Android users. By searching for Flappy Bird APK, users can find links to the original download file and can have the game on their device. However, don’t expect to receive any updates from the developer as Nguyen has made it clear he has no intentions of revisiting the massive hit anytime soon.
