Derek Jeter announces on Facebook that he will make season 2014 his last. Is this true? Will Derek Jeter be able to stop playing Baseball? Or will he make a come back and decide to stay.
Jeter wrote out a long letter to fans on social media, explaining what his reasoning was behind these actions. Will the people in New York be Happy or Sad or Discussed that Derek Jeter is leaving? We will find out as the season starts.
Has there been a Yankee that has mattered more than Derek Jeter? This will be Derek Jeter’s 20th year playing Baseball. Derek Jeter in an All-American Baseball player that plays short stop for the New York Yankees. He wears the #2, and his whole career has been spent with the Yankees.
It has never been easy for Derek he has always had to work hard to become the Super Star he is today. Casey Close which is Jeter’s long-time agent, did confirm in that this message was from the ‘real’ Derek Jeter. “Last year was a tough one for me,” Jeter said to the press. Then he continued by saying, “As I suffered through a bunch of injuries, I realized that some of the things that always came easily to me and were always fun had started to become a struggle. The one thing I always said to myself was that when baseball started to feel more like a job, it would be time to move forward.”
Jeter did turn 40 in June and has been with the Yankees since 1996. He was named Captain during the 2003, as he became one of the most iconic players in the Major Leagues. What is next for Derek Jeter? Will he become a coach? Will he start acting? A lot of questions surrounding this news, but I guess all we can do is wait and find out. What does New York think?
