A terrible tragedy occurred this blustery New York morning. A baby boy was born as his mother passed away. Current weather conditions have been the source of many unfortunate accidents as of late. This is another added to the growing list.
Min Lin, 36, was 8 months pregnant when she took a fatal blow by a snow plow earlier Thursday morning. She died at the hospital. Her baby was delivered by emergency cesarean section and is said to be in critical condition in the neonatal intensive care unit.
She was unloading groceries in a New York City supermarket parking lot when a mini-snowplow backed into her. According to hospital spokeswoman Eileen Tynion, Min Lin was rushed to the hospital where her 6-pound, 6-ounce baby born was delivered.
The driver of the vehicle, a 42-year-old man, remained at the scene after Lin was struck. He has not been charged in what appears to have been a tragic accident. The man works for the supermarket and was clearing the parking lot of the 9.5 inches of snow that had fallen on the city that morning.
