Arizona inmate Joseph Dekenipp escapes on Valentine’s Day to see his sweetheart
An Arizona inmate, who has been in jail since January, made a daring attempt to see his sweetheart on Valentine’s Day. His attempt resulted in a mere few hours of freedom, as he was captured shortly after meeting up with his girlfriend.
The inmate Joseph Dekenipp reportedly scaled two walls and crawled through razor wire to escape from the detention center where he was held. After escaping, the 40 year old Joseph Dekenipp made his way to the Gallopin’ Goose Saloon & Grill where he met up with his girlfriend.
According to patrons at the Gallopin’ Goose, Joseph’s girlfriend had just arrived when he was detained.
The bar where the two met up was located in Coolidge which is about 10 miles southwest of the detention center in Florence.
Investigations will be conducted to discover if any other inmates assisted with the escape. Joseph Dekenipp was reportedly “heartbroken” from being without his girlfriend for so long. Now he faces further time away from her in adding the escape.
Joseph Dekenipp was reportedly arrested on site with no further incident. He has been in jail on suspicion of auto theft, trafficking in stolen property, and driving on a suspended license.
Officers state that Joseph Dekenipp will be medically treated before returning to the detention center due to wounds sustained during his escape.
