Story after horror story is beginning to make its way out of North Korea in regards to its prison camps after the United Nations has released a strongly worded letter to “supreme leader” Kim Jung-un and his regime. Human rights violations include, “extermination, murder, enslavement, torture, imprisonment, rape, forced abortions and other sexual violence, persecution on political, religious, racial and gender grounds, the forcible transfer of populations, the enforced disappearance of persons and the inhumane act of knowingly causing prolonged starvation.” North Korean prison camps reflect conditions and capacities nearly identical to those of Hitler and Stalin, except North Korean camps have stood twice as long as its predecessors. Death numbers are impossible to calculate due to the country’s strict isolation, but experts suggest numbers in the millions.
