21-year-old college student Charles Pittman has been charged with killing his fiancee. Olivia Greenlee, Pittman’s fiancee was found shot dead in her car parked the universities parking lot on Wednesday morning. Police believe he shot his fiancee and then tampered with the evidence to make it look like a suicide. The 21-year-old college student is being charged with first degree murder and his arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday in Jackson City Court. According to police reports Pittman took a gun from a friend without their knowledge and shot his young lover.
The young couple were both students at Tennessee Union University, a small christian college primarily focusing on teaching liberal arts and about making moral decisions based on Christian ethics for young adults looking to become pastors or go into the Christian ministry field.
The news of this tragedy has rocked other students and members of the college, along with members of the surrounding community. “Many of us are baffled, in disbelief, sad and grieving, yet grieving not without hope because of our faith and our confidence in the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ,’ Union President Dr. David Dockery told reporters from the Jackson Sun.
Greenlee was studying music education at the school and was actively involved numerous community activities, as well as being a member of a sorority. The young couple was scheduled to get married in August.
