Many are asking why did Charlotte Dawson commit suicide. The 47-year-old Australian model and TV personality battled through years of depression and cyber bullying that resulted in her untimely death.
Dawson, who starred in Australia’s Next Top Model, was found dead in her Sydney home on Saturday While investigators have not announced the cause of death at this time, they have stated that there are no signs of foul play. It is believed that Charlotte Dawson killed herself using prescription drugs, however, that has not been confirmed by police.
Close friends and family of the former model told reporters that she struggled with severe depression. Back in 2012, Dawson was hospitalized after a cyber bulling campaign caused her to attempt suicide. After that incident, the New Zealand born beauty became an advocate for anti-bullying.
According to co-star Alex Perry, Dawson had been struggling with severe depression for some time as he told reporters:
“She was such a beautiful girl, she had so much energy and such a sense of humor but her battle with her mental illness just made it so difficult for her to really go in so many parts of her life.”
While police continue to investigate the cause of death, the Dawson family asks the media to please respect their privacy as they mourn her loss. No official reports of an autopsy have been confirmed at this time as police continue their investigation.
