The fire began this morning as some people were still sleeping and others were getting ready for work. Families were looking around for missing loved ones and familiar faces, but some people fear that there may have been some people who were unable to make it out of the blaze alive.

The fire consumed almost all of the Jason Manor Apartments, which was more than 90% occupied at the time. Officials stated that the fire began sometime around 6am in the morning, but they are still not sure of the cause. Some residents had reported a loud argument, which occurred shortly before the fire started, but there is no indication yet that this fire involves any foul play. Fire fighters are still at the scene of this 4 alarm fire assessing the scene.
Some of the apartment’s residents were taken to nearby hospitals to be treated for various burns and injuries. Some of the residents suffered leg injuries from jumping out of their windows to escape the flames. The fire had moved so quickly through the old apartments that it actually blocked off most of the fire exits, leaving the residents trapped. Fire fighters who arrived on the scene were able to help rescue people from the burning building, and saved many lives. A couple dozen people who would have otherwise died from smoke or fire were pulled from the apartments by the heroic fire fighters this morning, leaving many to be thankful for their service.
The Jason Manor Apartments are located at 21630 Jason Street Detroit, Michigan 48223.
