Ashton Sachs, 19, was formally charged with the shooting and killing of his parents in their Orange County home. The teen also attempted to kill two of his siblings after the murder of his parents.
Currently being held without bail, Ashton Sachs was attending Washington State University last fall before the incident. Police arrested Sachs after he shot and killed both of his parents, 57-year-old Bradford Sachs and 54-year-old Andra Sachs. The pair were shot in their luxurious Southern California home located in San Juan Capistrano on February 9, 2014.
Ashton Sachs is also charged with attempted murder as he shot his 8-year-old brother and fired shots at one of his two sisters. While the brother was critically injured, the sisters managed to escape without any wounds or severe injuries.
Police were quick to suspect Sachs as they saw no signs of forced entry. After a series of questioning and probing, police arrested Sachs and have also stated they have recovered the murder weapon. Despite their efforts, police have failed to come up with a motive for the murder rampage on the Sachs family.
The Sachs family have not spoken publicly about the case at this time. Investigators as well as the family ask that the media respect their privacy as they attempt to cope with the severity of the situation.
Meanwhile, Ashton Sachs is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Monday.
