Stop and Frisk is a controversial police tactic used by the New York City Police Department to conduct unconstitutional warrant less searches and interrogations on New Yorkers suspected of criminal activity violating New Yorkers fourth amendment constitutional right. Stop and Frisk tactics have struck wide controversy throughout the United States due to being unconstitutional warrant less searches, ease of abuse, racial profiling, and illegal stops. Over the past twelve years Stop and Frisk statistics show that New York Police arrogantly abuse Stop and Frisk tactics to profile low income communities and areas with large African American populations.
I can guarantee NYPD isn’t conducting Stop and Frisk searches on New Yorkers that live in wealthier areas of New York such as Wall Street or Fifth Ave. The New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) started a campaign against Stop and Frisk and getting New Yorkers involved to take stand. NYCLU has also created and app available in Apple and Android app markets called Stop and Frisk Watch App creating a live feed allowing you record, listen, and report fellow New Yorkers getting there rights violated. According to New York Police Department own reports openly say that nine out of ten times citizens were completely innocent rendering Stop and Frisk tactics obsolete to crime prevention.
Bill de Blasio the new mayor of New York has promised to help change this but has appointed new police commissioner Bill Braton or not so new police commissioner Bill Braton, Mr. Braton ran the New York police department from 1994 to 1996. With the same people getting appointed I see change as highly unlikely in these predicaments , but cheers to all my fellow New Yorkers for fighting against the police state this country is slowly but surely getting sucked into!
