The Wayne Knight death hoax has been put to rest as it has been confirmed that the Seinfeld actor is still alive despite rumors of his sudden death.
The internet is slowly becoming a less reliable source when it comes to deaths of celebrities as Wayne Knight has been a victim of false online reporting. Knight, who is famous for his portrayal as Newman on Seinfeld, was incorrectly reported as being dead after being involved in a car accident.
The article was first published on the US Magazine website. News of the actor’s death quickly spread throughout social media. Upon hearing the news of his death, Wayne Knight himself confirmed on his personal Twitter account that he was alive and well:
“Some of you will be glad to hear this, others strangely disappointed, but….I am alive and well!
Does someone have to DIE to trend? Geez! Thanks for all the love everybody. I didn’t know you cared. Glad to be breathing!”
The incorrect report stated that Wayne Knight was involved in a fatal car crash that left him and two other passengers dead. The article claimed that the incident occurred at 11:15 p.m. on Saturday and that Knight lost control of his Mercedes and slammed into the rear end of a truck. The report also stated that Knight died from blunt force trauma to the head.
US Magazine has yet to come forward and officially state that the report is false.
