There have been plenty of rumors flying around about free agent defensive end Jared Allen and his future. Well–it looks like they can be put to rest now.
The former Viking will get to visit his Minnesota teammates twice next season with his new team–the Chicago Bears.

The future of the All-Pro defensive end has been the topic of a lot of speculation of late. Rumors had him going to the Seattle Seahawks, but they were quickly put to rest. He had also visited the Dallas Cowboys, but after they singed Henry Melton the Cowboys were not believed to be a serious contender to retain Allen’s services.
Allen had even insinuated he would be okay with walking away from the game if he did not get what he considered a ‘fair’ deal. At 31 he seemed to understand that teams would not be willing to pay him close to the $17 million he earned last year from the Vikings. Even though he is still playing at a high level there is going to be concern that his skills could go downhill or he could get injured–things that tend to happen as players age.
Apparently a four year deal worth $32 million with $15.5 million guaranteed was fair enough to him. The Monsters of the Midway are expected to officially announce Allen as their newest member on Monday.
