According to an exclusive report from Latino Review, it appears that a new Indiana Jones movie is happening with or without its star Harrison Ford.
The site did not name a specific source, but did say that their source was “reliable” and said that even though Ford may still play Indiana Jones in the next film, the window is closing. Ford is busy working on Star Wars: Episode VII and he will be well into his 70’s before they could even begin production on the next installment of the franchise.
The franchise will be looking to take more of the James Bond direction and re-cast the role of the lead as opposed to re-booting it every few years. This method has worked very well for 007, which hit its financial peak after 50 years with it’s latest installment, Skyfall.
Though it will be difficult for many fans to accept a new Dr. Jones, the studio is dead set on casting another actor if Ford can’t make it happen by a certain date.
Even though it will be hard for fans to accept, at one point fans of the Bond franchise had a hard time accepting anyone but Sean Connery, who coincidentally played Jones’ father in The Last Crusade . However, some have argued, including former Bond Roger Moore that Daniel Craig is the best Bond yet. Moore himself has the record for most outings as Bond with 7 films under his belt.
Rumors are already circulation as to who will potentially be cast if Ford can’t do it and the front runner is reportedly Bradley Cooper at the moment. Though, currently these are nothing more then early negotiations and he is merely being looked at for the role.
Frank Darabont who worked on the Young Indiana Jones series may be getting another crack at the franchise as well according to Latino Review.
There is no final world with any of this but one thing is for sure: Indiana Jones is coming back to the big screen one way or the other.
