Raven’s running back, Ray Rice marries fiance, one day after being accused of beating her. The 27 year old football star was indicted by a grand jury in Atlantic County, N.J. for third degree aggravated assault against Janay Palmer, his new wife.
A video surfaced in mid-February of Rice dragging what appeared to be his wife, who was his fiance at the time, out of an elevator unconscious. According to reports, he was arrested and charged with simple assault-domestic violence against Palmer. The altercation took place at the Revel Casino and Hotel in Atlantic City.
According to Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor, Jim McClain, Rice’s offence was a potential penalty of three to five years in prison. Palmer, 26, was also charged with simple assault but the charges were dropped soon after.
Ray Rice appeared in court Thursday regarding February’s charges with attorney Michael Diamondstein who claims the footage was “authentic but incomplete.” Diamondstein went on to share how the couple has reconciled and were no longer interesting in proceeding in court. Ray Rice and his new wife reportedly are in a better place and are in counseling.
