The federal health exchange has reported that it is currently meeting its goals for enrollment, but there is still a lot of convincing to do for people that believe it does not work.  More than six million people have already signed up for the Affordable Healthcare Act, but the goal is for everyone in the United States to be signed up by the end of March 31st, 2014.  Open enrollment ends at that point.  Those who do not sign up by that deadline will be charged the greater of either $95 or 1% of their income, whichever is greater.

Though the website, Healthcare.gov, had some issues in October 2013, when it first started up, it is now said to be working well.  Those that live in areas covered by the federal government have to abide by this deadline, but some states have their own deadlines.

If a person cannot sign up for healthcare through the website, they may also call 1-800-318-2596  to sign up.
