Another young starlet has found themselves in the center of controversy, and this time the trouble surrounds Nickelodeon star Jennette McCurdy who posted a sexy selfie fueling controversy across the web. The fate of one of Nickelodeon’s biggest shows “Sam & Cat” is hanging by a thread after sultry selfies shot by one of the show’s stars, Jenette McCurdy, leaked online last month.
Production on the top-rated kid’s comedy has come to a screeching halt, even despite its popularity, and has not been renewed for a second season at this time. Sources say McCurdy, 21 has also been feuding with her co-star, Ariana Grande, 20, and others at Nickelodeon – and her issues began in early March when the nearly nude pictures went public.
McCurdy’s angst became evident Saturday, when she boycotted the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards and blamed the network.
“It has to do with how Nickelodeon treated me, that’s all,” she tweeted to explain her noticeable absence at the award show, where “Sam & Cat” won the Favorite Show trophy.
Grande beat out her co-star and took home the Favorite Actress award at the same event. While it is unclear why McCurdy is upset with the network, her statements on Twitter aren’t making things any clearer.
“I chose to not go because sticking up for what is right and what is fair is what my mom taught me is ALWAYS the most important thing,” McCurdy wrote. “No matter who or what you support, I believe in supporting fairness first.”
McCurdy has been romantically linked to Detroit Pistons player Andre Drummond, and went on a Twitter rampage of posting sexy selfies after the first appeared online, just days after she made fun of Drummond on a podcast as a bad kisser.
“It just didn’t go great … no sparks. The mouths … the shapes weren’t right,” she said.
Within days of the podcast, the sexy pictures made their way around the web. McCurdy tweeted they were sent to just one person and was mortified they became public.
Drummond claims he was not responsible for the pictures leaking.
