Fans of The Simpsons have reason to rejoice today as it was announced the FXX, the sister channel of FX, will be airing a 12-day long The Simpsons marathon in August.
The network made the announcement Wednesday. FXX will air all 552 episodes of the long running Fox series starting August 21, running through Labor Day.
FXX will be setting a world record for the longest running marathon ever.
The marathon will be coinciding with the networks purchase of the rights to re-run all of the episodes of The Simpsons. The rights were purchased by the network in Nov. of last year for an estimated $750 million.
FXX is also developing an on-demand app that will allow its users to watch every single episode of the series at any time.
The network is currently available in more than 70 million homes but hopes that it will be in 80 million later in the year by the time the marathon airs.
The networks plans for the Simpson family don’t stop there either. They will be airing four hours of the show every Sunday starting this fall as well.
“We don’t care that other people had them first, we spent a lot of money and we’re going to rock them,” said Jon Landgraf, chief executive of FX Networks.
