Mother-of-two arrested after ex-husband discovers skeletons of SEVEN newborns stuffed in boxes in their garage – as police claim they are all from pregnancies she hid.
Officials said a woman was arrested after seven dead babies were found inside a Utah home, six of which were packaged in separate cardboard containers.
Megan Huntsman, 39, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of six counts of murder.
Six of the newborns appeared to have died from asphyxiation and the seventh was believed to be stillborn, Captain Michael Roberts said.
Officials said they believe the suspect gave birth to the children and killed them over a 10-year period.
Pleasant Grove Utah police discovered the bodies after responding to a report of a deceased infant in a home. When they arrived, they found the infant to be at full term, according to police.
“This is unbelievable, I can’t even fathom it. It doesn’t make any sense at all,” Roberts said.
Police believe the seven children were born to Huntsman from about 1996 to 2006. She is the only person of interest in the case and was cooperative with police.
Pleasant Grove is about 35 miles south of Salt Lake City.
The former flame was removing boxes from the garage in preparation of moving back into the home, which is owned by his parents, when he discovered one of the boxes.
Ex-husband Darren West discovered the dead baby after he and another person helping him came across a box that smelled really bad, according to Fox 13
They opened the box to find what they determined to be a dead infant and called police.
He called 911, and authorities obtained a search warrant that led them to six more dead babies packed into small boxes, authorities said.
During the course of the investigation information was obtained that; over a 10 year period a 39 year old female gave birth to the infants and then killed them,’ police said in a press release.
The ex-husband is believed to be the father of the babies, but DNA testing will be needed to confirm. He is not considered a suspect in any of the deaths, cops said.
