The Tweet seemed to be much of a popularity stunt.  Many of the teen’s later Tweets were concerning the popularity she received surrounding the threat- she was happy about it.

But eventually, the teen was scared that American Airlines would send authorities after her and she Tweeted about being sorry and scared of what would happen.

Officials found the girl in Rotterdam and took her into custody to investigate the threats.  Twitter had disclosed the IP address from which the threats had originated, which was hers.  The girl was questioned and it is now up to American Airlines as to if they would like to press charges.

Though she has been released, the Dutch girl is still being investigated.  The charges will depend on whether or not she has done anything similar in the past.
