The US Airways tweet fail has gone viral after the airline company posted an obscene link on their official Twitter account. While the company apologized for the blunder, the tweet instantly went viral before the company could delete it and apologize for the mistake.
When replying to a customer who was complaining about US Airways service on Twitter, the airliner attempted to respond to the customer saying it welcomes feedback and suggestions. Included in the company’s tweet was a link that was intended to send the customer to the official complaint page on US Airways website. However, the link instead led the customer and others who clicked on it to an obscene image.
The sensitive image first popped up on US Airways’ Twitter stream after it was posted by a user. The image was soon after flagged as inappropriate by the airline. However, the image soon went viral on social media after US Airways accidentally included the link in its post.
Soon after the incident, US Airways issued a formal apology on their Twitter account which reads:
“We apologize for an inappropriate image recently shared as a link in one of our responses. We’ve removed the tweet and are investigating.”
A US Airways company spokeswoman also issued a statement on the airliner’s behalf:
“We deeply regret the mistake and we are currently reviewing our processes to prevent such errors in the future.”
