Marshawn Lynch Movie: You would think that a movie based on the popular running back of the Seattle Seahawks would have ‘Beast Mode’ in the title, right?
If the movie was going to be based solely on his gridiron exploits the title would have to include some variation of ‘Beast Mode’ in it, but that is far from the case. No, the movie–titled Family First–is going to be more of a making-of-the-man kind of film. It will feature his life growing up in Oakland and his journey to NFL stardom.
“Most people don’t know how much he cares,” said director Mario Bobino of Debonair Production (via the Mercury News). “Marshawn is very human. He is passionate about family. He is passionate about Oakland, about Cal. He has a great desire to do good things for the youth of the community. That’s the side of Marshawn people don’t see.”
Fans of the Seahawks and Lynch are probably thinking this sounds strange. Lynch is famous for his stand off approach to the media. He was so uncomfortable during Media Day leading up to Super Bowl that he left the podium set up for him and tried to blend in to the room.
It’s a task that is impossible for the starting running back of a Super Bowl team, but he still managed to talk to no one until Deion Sanders approached him.
So to hear he is going to open up enough for a movie to be made about him is somewhat of a surprise.
“For me, it’s just about having some fun,” Lynch said. “It’s just a fun experience. I also get to the shine light on the community and some of the things that we grew up doing and what we went through.”
Relativity Media has already purchased the rights to the film. It is expected to be released by the end of the year.[MercuryNews]
