Three young girls were found murdered in their home Tuesday.
A California mom is suspected of killing her three daughters after their lifeless bodies were discovered in her bed. Even more disturbing, their mother was found holding a knife while lying in the bed with them, authorities said.
Just after 5 p.m. Tuesday evening, police found three young girls– 3 years old, 2 years old, and 2 months old – in bed, splattered with blood in their Torrance, Calif. Home, sheriff’s deputies told Southern California’s KTLA.
Authorities first responded to the home in the 1000 block of West 223rd street after receiving a rescue call from the location, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
When they arrived at the gruesome crime scene, deputies were met outside by family members who had said the mother had killed all three of her daughters.
They arrested Carol Coronado, the three girl’s mother, on suspicion of murder.
Coronado, 30-years-old was found disrobed and holding a knife, police said.
She was then transported to a local hospital and then subsequently taken to the Carson Sheriff’s Station where she is expected to be booked on suspicion of murder.
All three of the young girls were pronounced dead at the scene.
Family members told deputies that Coronado had killed her children, the Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
The children’s father and grandmother were home when Coronado was arrested. Police are also questioning the girls’ father, the Los Angeles Times reported.
While investigators did find several knives in the home, the causes of death have not yet been disclosed.
