Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace, was one of the worlds most famous fashion moguls, whose designs were worn by some of the world’s most noted figures, ranging from Madonna to Princess Diana. His impact on the fashion world is still present today as the brand Versace is still a renowned design headed by his younger sister Donatella.
Gianni Versace’s legacy still lives on in contemporary fashion, however his life was cut short on the morning of July 15th, 1997 when a man by the name of Andrew Cunanan shot Versace twice in the back of the head as Versace returned home from an uncharacteristic morning walk.
At the time of Versace’s death, the circumstances were shrouded in mystery. However, it was later found out that Cunanan had killed several other wealthy older men in what was characterized as a killing spree which lead Cunanan to Miami, where he eventually killed Versace. After shooting Versace, Cunanan took his own life 8 days later on the boat house of a German millionaire who was vacationing in Las Vegas at the time.
