There’s bad news for coffee drinkers- being partial to Dunkin’ Donuts or Folgers will be a little more expensive to morning brewers.

Nigel Travis, CEO of Dunkin’ Brands, told to the sources on Monday that “coffee prices will go up a little bit in our stores, but not by much. We see other people increasing [the price] because of upward pressure.”

“Coffee is where the war is fought,” Travis said.

Droughts in Brazil and as abnormally wet weather in Central America is causing a fungus called ‘coffee rust’ which critically damages the coffee crops, and has resulted in the soaring of coffee prices.

The drought in Brazil may affect coffee bean supplies thereby resulting in skyrocketing of global coffee prices. The announcement as regards raise in the price of Folger and Dunkin Donuts supermarket coffee has been made by J.M. Smucker-which has a licensing agreement with Dunkin Brands. Sources reveal that the price increase of about 9 percent would be first in three years.
