Plane Crash in New York City, One Dead

A small plane-Piper PA-46 went down about 1.6 km southwest of Westchester County Airport has reportedly crashed shortly after taking off from the airport, causing the death of the pilot, according to the airport officials and the Federal Aviation Administration.

It has also been found that the pilot was the only person on board. The crash has occurred close to the State University of New York at Purchase, however, the wreckage due to the crash was fortunately not on the campus grounds.

The cause of this plane crash is yet to be found, however, it is speculated that the foggy weather and the rainy morning may have caused certain problems.

The streets around the site of the plane crash have now been closed off, according to the media. A medical team was present on the site, however, the identity of the pilot would be released after a while and after the family would be notified. Recently, the sources have confirmed that the great-grandson of oil tycoon John D. Rockefeller was piloting the plane, and is pronounced dead. 

The plane reportedly took off from the airport at around 8.10 am and crashed just 10 minutes later, the FAA added.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are currently investigating the crash in detail.
