Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson tied the knot Saturday after a lengthy three-year engagement.
The couple said “I Do” in a romantic ceremony at San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, Calif. with their two children by their sides. The newly married couple swapped vows on the ranch’s lawn in a traditional ceremony. The scene was set against a backdrop of lavish rose gardens under a canopy with chevron seating, a source told E! News.
More than 250 were in attendance, including Jessica’s sister Ashlee Simpson and her fiancé Evan Ross, Jessica Alba and her family, Topher Grace and his girlfriend, and Johnson’s old football colleagues from Yale and the NFL, including Tim Rattay.
Live music played as guests arrived at the ranch at about 4 p.m., while they waited for Jessica and Eric to make it official about an hour later, a source said. Many of the female guests in attendance donned brightly-colored gowns in shades of pink, champagne, gold, and turquoise, while male guests wore black tuxedos and suites with either black ties or bow ties.
According to People, Jessica decided on a custom Carolina Herrera gown for her trip down the aisle to her hubby-to-be, with the couple later telling the magazine, “We are overwhelmed with complete happiness and love having made our eternal commitment. To say ‘I do’ in front of family, friends and, most importantly, our children has been the happiest moment of our lives.”
The couple’s daughter, 2-year-old Maxwell, was the flower girl, walking down the aisle with Ashlee’s 5-year-old son Bronx. Jessica and Eric’s 1-year-old son Ace, served as the ring bearer.
The road to the altar has been a long one for the couple, who has been engaged since Johnson first popped the question back in November 2010. The pair started dating four years ago when they were introduced by mutual kids and have two kids together.
