University of Pennsylvania # 9
Located in Philadelphia, the University of Pennsylvania is one of the most prestigious and well regarded private schools, not only in the United States, but the world. The school was founded by none other than Benjamin Franklin way back in 1740, which is a point of pride in the schools rich history that spans more than centuries.
The four schools that make up the University of Pennsylvania, or UPenn as it is commonly referred, offers degree programs in Arts and Sciences, Nursing, Engineering and Applied Sciences, and Wharton. The school has a history of being targeted by employers in nearly every major field, so getting to attend UPenn is a big leg up in that respect. Not to mention that the school has a gorgeous campus that covers more than 300 acres.
Like all of the schools on this list though, the prestige comes at a price. Tuition and fees totaled $45,890 for the year from 2013-14. However, for the nearly ten thousand students who get to attend UPenn, the money will likely be well spent, as the school has one of the highest average reported salaries from students after graduation.
