#9 Andre Wadsworth, Arizona Cardinals.
In the 1998 NFL Draft, GM’s and analysts alike, debated endlessly over who would be the top selection between Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf, while the Arizona Cardinals let the highly touted, Andre Wadsworth, slide to them at No. 3 overall. At the time, Wadsworth was considered the next big thing at Defensive End, after bench pressing an eye popping 500 pounds and equating 690 pounds.
Wadsworth’s career got off to the wrong start early, as a hold out ensued prior to the start of his rookie season, and unfortunately for the standout, it never recovered. After posting modest numbers at his position in his first season, his next two seasons would be marred by injury and the Cardinals would decide to pull the plug waiving their number 3 pick just short of his fourth NFL season.
