Everyone has a place in the world that gives them the creeps. That dark alley you walk by on your way home from work, a graveyard you rode your bike by as a kid, and of course the always scary basement. But none of those places even compared to this list of the 10 creepiest places in the world.
1. Mayan Hell, Yucatan
It’s disturbing to think that hell could possibly be somewhere on Earth. But the Mayans believed that hell was a place located in a network of caves below the jungles of the Yucatan. When researches went into these caves they found them full of crumbling temples and pathways leading to a giant column at the edge of a dark pool. What’s even crazier is that all throughout the site are creepy statues of priests and human bones, which were possibly used as a sacrifice to appease Hell from spilling over into the world.
2. Chernobyl Amusement Park, Ukraine
Abandoned amusement parks are creepy. But none are more creepy than one that never opened. Due to the nuclear accident at Chernobyl just five days before the scheduled open, the park had to be abandoned. It is still not safe to be in the area, so only a few will ever see this park.
3. Island of the Dolls, Mexico
On an island in the canals of Xochimico near Mexico, is the Island of the Dolls. Some 50 years ago Don Julian Santana found the body of a young girl who had drowned in the canal. Haunted by the death of the girl he hoped to appease the tortured soul and protect the island from future evil by hanging small dolls on the trees.
4. Chuuk Lagoon, New Guinea
Just north of New Guinea lays the remnants of the Imperial Japanese Army. In February of 1944, the U.S. Navy laid siege on the Japanese army. At the end of the battle thousands of soldiers on both sides had died. While weapons, tanks, planes, and machinery lay at the bottom of the lagoon, the creepy thing is so do the bodies.
5. Abandoned Russian Lab, Russia
There is little known about what was going on in this lab. It was abandoned by Soviet-era neuroscientists rather quickly, but no one is sure why. What was left behind is incredibly disturbing. All around the facility are jars filled with both animal and human brains. There are even cracked open sculls filled brain remains. It’s pretty obvious why this one made the 10 creepiest places in the world list.
6. Lome’s Voodoo Market, Togo, West Africa
Voodoo isn’t just something in movies. In some parts of the world it is a main religion. In Lome the capital of Togo is one of the largest voodoo markets in the world. 7. Stull Cemetery, Stull, KS
Just outside of Lawrence, KS lays Stull cemetery. This small little cemetery has become famous for being known as an entrance to Hell. Satan worshipers have gathered numerous times at night to talk with the Devil inside the church pictured above. Behind the church hidden by grass lays a stairway that lead down to somewhere. No one knows for sure. A legend says that the stairs are so long that you could walk down them for hours, but when you turn to head back you will be at the entrance in a couple minutes. The small church pictured is no longer there. It has been destroyed. The odd thing is no one knows how. One morning the cemetery care taker just found it demolished with no signs of machinery knocking it down and the city knows nothing about it.

Fuji inside this forest, Japanese people have been committing suicide. It has been happening since the 1950s. So many people are coming here to end their life, the Japanese government has started posting signs encouraging people to stop and think of their families.
10. The Overtoun Bridge, Scotland
It is believed that this bridge is haunted after a mentally disturbed man threw his baby off the bridge, killing the baby. Since then over 600 people have committed suicide at the bridge. What is even more disturbing is each year 15 dogs leap off the bridge falling 40 feet to their deaths. No one knows why the dogs do this. Some believe it has to do with water below seducing the dogs to jump. But many believe it is the curse drawing them to fall to their deaths just like the baby.
