As Yahoo Sports reported recently, Rob Bironas died on September 20, 2014 when he lost control on a curve in his 2009 GMC Yukon Denali and crashed less than a mile from home.  Bironas worked his way through odd jobs and the Arena Football League before becoming one of the NFL’s most accurate kickers, was 36.

Startling news comes out today that Bironas tried to run a couple off the road prior to his death.  A transcript of the 911 call is bellow.

Bironas wikipedia page states attended Auburn University, where he played for the football from 1997 to 1999. He was a semi-finalist for the Lou Groza Award in 1998 after making 12 of 16 field goal attempts (including two successful 49-yard (45 m) tries with the four misses from 40+) and making all 18 PATs for a team-high 54 points. The following season, new head coach Tuberville replaced Bironas, the preseason All-SEC kicker, with the punter, Duvall.  Bironas later transferred to Georgia Southern Unversity, where his brother was on the soccer team, for his final year of collegiate eligibility, and played for football. Bironas won the 2000 NCAA Division I-AA National Championship while playing with the Eagles, before returning to graduate from Auburn with a bachelor’s degree in marketing.

His professional career started in the Arena Football League and ended last year with the Tennessee Titans.

“He tried to run my sisters off the road. We pulled over and he looked at us. We don’t even know him,” she said with a quivering voice. “And he sped off. My husband got out and said, ‘what is your problem?’

“We let him go on past us because he was trying to run us off the road. We let him speed on past us. This guy is dangerous,” she says with an emotional, trembling voice.

“He came beside us and gave us this crazy look and just sped off past us and followed us down the road. .. But he’s dangerous the police need to know there’s something wrong with him. He’s dangerous … he’s drunk or something. He tried to start a fight with us!”
