This is that time of the year, between November and December, when the American waist line traditionally swells up. You may be loosing your belt a notch after tomorrow’s dinner, but this type of eating habit may have you keeping it on that notch for longer than you would like. Part of the issue with the Thanksgiving feast is not just the sheer amount of calories that is typically consumed, but also the amount of unhealthy fats and carbohydrates that come along with it. After cramming the stuffing, casseroles, cranberry sauce, and other dishes into your mouth, your body has to counteract all of those sugars with insulin. Oh, and don’t forget about your choice of dessert on top of that too!

The traditional Thanksgiving dinner in America can consist of a Turkey, Ham, Mashed Potatoes, Yams, Stuffing, Green Beans, Cranberry Sauce, Gravy, Pumpkin Pie, Rolls, and all kinds of other goodness. Some families will eat the traditional pumpkin pie, while others may also indulge in some pecan pie or sweet potato pie. Whatever your favorite, you may be sure to gorge yourself tomorrow.

The purpose of the original Thanksgiving may be often forgotten, but the tradition of feasts and families still carries on across America. Be sure to stock up on those calories, as you may need them to hold you over during Black Friday shopping. Many fast food chains will be closed during the night, and waiting in long lines may take its toll on your appetite.
