CAIRO, Egypt – A large group of Islamist demonstrators called for another Arab uprising in Egypt’s capital on Friday. The protesters were met quickly by police who disbanded the demonstration and arrested scores of people. Authorities were left in a state of alert all day Friday, and heading into the weekend. Only a few short years ago the entirety of Cairo was full of protesters who overthrew their government and allowed for some reprieve. Now there are new groups loyal to ISIS that are trying to stir up the same situation all over again.

Groups that are close to the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafist Front are suspected at being behind Friday’s demonstrations. The outbursts were also accompanied by explosions that rocked neighborhoods in Cairo’s suburbs. The hundreds of Islamists who took to the streets were clearly hoping to incite some sort of public outcry.
These groups are also hoping that they can drum up support from Islamic State sympathizers who live all across Egypt’s ancient cities. a pro-ISIS revolution would be very bad news for Egypt’s government and surrounding countries. As the US military and other countries work to squash the terrorist fighters across Iraq and Syria, more and more groups seem to appear. Bringing these ideological militants to their knees may take more than bombs and guns.
Security forces will beef up their presence in large public areas across Egypt to hopefully thwart any major demonstrations before they can grow into the type of struggle that was witnessed during the Arab Spring. No organized nation welcomes the influence of the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) within their borders, as the group threatens the authority of all established goverments currently operating in the Middle East.
