Kurds In Syria Bring The Fight To ISIS Killing 24 Jihadists

Kobane, Syria – A strong group of ethnic Kurds assaulted an ISIS stronghold in the Syrian border town of Kobane. The city has been a foothold for the Islamic State, who has been waging a religious and ethnic war in Northern Iraq and Syria. The Kurds have been winning bitter battles against the Islamic State both in Syria and Iraq, as their organization and supplies improve. These very same Kurds may wish to eventually establish their own country, referred to as Kurdistan, sometime in the future, and they seem to be fighting for their right to regain control of their homelands.

Kurds have managed to recapture about 4/5 of the entire city of Kobane, which was once almost completely controlled by ISIS. In total, if you care to keep score, the Kurds lost 7 fighters to the Islamic State’s 24. ISIS was sent packing, as they gave up critical ground to flee with their lives.

This fierce battle between ISIS and the Kurds has been going on for more than 4 months in Syria’s northern and eastern regions. Last week the Kurdish president stood atop an Iraqi mountain after leading a successful attack to repel ISIS troops in Northen Iraq. Though the war is far from over, the forces of good have been doing a much more effective job at winning against the terrorist fighters of the Islamic State.

A United States led coalition has been contributing to the destruction of ISIS forces, by attacking troops and fortifications from the air. The ISIS fighters lack effective anti-aircraft firepower to repel these devastating airstrikes. Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and other Arab countries have also contributed to the effective air strikes against the Islamic State.
