The American Red Cross all the donors who are eligible to donate blood to, well, donate blood this January during the National Blood Donor Month. The Red Cross will be conducting four blood drives at NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) on 17, 18, 19 and 24 of this month from 2 pm to 8 pm.
Donors will be given the opportunity to donate blood on the second level of Cobo Hall in rooms 250 A, B and C near the river front. No tickets are needed to enter the blood drive. The NAIAS has given an invitation to the Red Cross to be hosting these drives at Cobo Hall every year. More than 788 units of blood have been collected through these drives in the past 7 years.
Advance appointments are encouraged. Those with appointments are given first priority, but walk-in’s are welcome. To make your appointment to donate at one of the auto show blood drives, be sure to use sponsor code: NAIAS.

Each and every blood type is needed for ensuring a reliable supply of blood of every type for the patient. A blood donor card or a driving license or two other types of forms of identification are required to take part during check-in. People who are more 17 years or more in age, or are 16 but have parental consent (only applicable in some states), weigh around 110 pounds and are generally healthy physically are eligible to donate blood. Donors of age 18 and younger, as well as students of high school also have to meet certain weight and height requirements.
