Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Trial Begins 1st Day In Boston Wednesday

Boston, Massachusetts – The criminal trial of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, one of the alleged Boston Marathon Bombers, began on Wednesday amid testimony from many of the wounded. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev were identified as the Boston Marathon Bombers, and the entire city and surrounding area went under Martial Law in an attempt to track them down. Their pursuit led to a blistering fire fight in a Boston suburb, and a manhunt that would have the entire country waiting on pins and needles for its outcome.

Dzhokhar’s brother, Tamerlan, was wounded by gunfire as he shot at police. As he attempted to climb back in the getaway vehicle that Dzhokhar was driving he fell to the ground from his injuries, and was ran over by his brother. The combination of injuries caused him to die shortly after he was taken from scene by paramedics. In a dizzying hurry, Dzhokhar fled the scene and managed to escape for a short while. It was later on that a nearby resident noticed blood stains on the boat in their backyard, and part of the cover loosened. This led to authorities finally tracking down the younger fugitive.

It is suspected that the older brother, Tamerlan, was the mastermind behind the whole Boston Marathon Bombing, and that his younger brother (still a legal adult) was highly influenced by him to carry out the plan. Tamerlan Tsarnaev is also suspected of murdering a friend of his prior to the Boston Marathon Bombings over some disagreements with controlled substances.

One by one, some of the Boston Marathon Bombing victims took the stand to give their emotional testimony. Most spoke through tears, and some held back hatred as they described the scenes that took place shortly after the explosions took place. All of this was designed by the prosecution to set the tone for the trial that just began.

Dzhokhar’s own defense attorney did not try to dispute the fact that her client was responsible for the bombings. It seems that Dzhokhar is not trying to avoid spending any more time behind bars, but that he would like to have the least harsh sentence possible for the crime. It will be interesting to see how the trial turns out, and whether or not Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will take the stand to tell his side of the story. His point of view from before and after the attacks would be the most telling as to why this grotesque act took place to begin with.
